Training Philosophy

The pursuit of health and fitness can be confusing; it seems there are always some type of magical equipment or magic pills that are being sold to make the weight magically come off.  Personal fitness training gives you a great alternative to the diet cycle.  Kersten’s program offers you a sound program designed specifically for you and your needs.  This program will also grow and change with you as you grow and change. Kersten’s program is a comprehensive lifestyle plan.  Training includes instruction in resistance training (weights, dumbells, tubes, bands, and machines), Flexibility (stretching), Nutrition (eating sensibly without hopping on the diet bandwagon), cardiovascular conditioning, and functional training. You will learn proper technique and the reasons why each of these areas of fitness is important.  You will cross train (change activities) and periodize (change how hard you work over periods of time) your training so you will stay interested, have fun and keep the results coming. 

            Your input is critical to helping to design a program that will work for you, it will not be effective unless we consider your thoughts feelings and opinions. 

            Many great changes can happen to you besides fitting into that too small outfit in the back of your closet.  The chance for a myriad of diseases will shrink (diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and many many more).  You will also be much better off to handle stress.

            To get these results I will need your cooperation and enthusiasm and a steady attendance commitment.  We must work as a Team and give 100%.  TO become fit you should schedule two training sessions a week.  Eventually you will be active most days of the week.  At four to six weeks of your training you should start to see results if not sooner.  Constant supervision and adjustment are essential features of responsible fitness training.  Kersten’s major objective is to see your physical fitness and personal wellness improve with every meeting and watch you change and begin to enjoy life again. 

            Kersten’s main clients are those who are morbidly obese ( 100+ pounds overweight).  There are specific challenges to working with this ever growing population.  Having been nearly two hundred pounds overweight herself, she understands many of the challenges these people face.  Kersten’s goal is to show dignity and compassion while also motivating and encouraging change.
